Special Blog Post - Stephan van Huyssteen

Stephan van Huyssteen is a South African musician and entertainer.  Being part of a boy-band, he feels that it helps him stay up to date with all the latest fashion trends but it is is still important to him to have his own individual style.

When I asked Stephan to describe his style in 5 words, he chose the following:

I always find it important to find out what part of the day somebody likes the most, because it says so much about them as a person.  Stephan loves late nights - he feels he can be most creative late at night and that he did some of his best work then.

When it comes to Stephan's fashion style he likes to stand out, but to still keep the colours neutral.  There is nobody in particular who influences Stephan's style - as he walks in a shopping mall and see something in the window display - he will have a closer look at the clothing item in the retail store.  Brands doesn't influence his decision as much.  Stephan is more concerned with the fit of the style and if it looks right.

When I asked Stephan where would he like to travel to - he said any place with snow as he has not experienced it yet.  So this was one of the largest components of my inspiration to style him an outfit.  The snow not only inspired me to style a warmer outfit for him that is appropriate in  cold weather, but also the geometric patterns that is so often associated with snowy fashion.  This fun guy is not afraid to take chances with fashion as seen in the inspiration where he wore a burnt orange suit to the Ghoema awards earlier this year.
As a musician and entertainer, Stephan is constantly on the road.  So I decided to style a weekend away look - learning him how easy it is to look totally different but don't pack your whole wardrobe for a trip.

You can never go wrong with a dark grey jean, and this Guess Skinny Jean will look perfect when you pair it up with any one of the three chosen knitwear.  From the left, is a Grey Goliath top with geometric inspired patterns on the sleeves.  The multi-striped Goliath sweater's colours is perfect and will still look stylish a good ten years from know.  Lastly is the black and white Utopia textured top.  Pair this look up with these cool maroon Soviet High-Top sneakers.  When it comes to accessories I was a bit more daring when I chose the Wooden Deer Broach and the Wooden Analogue watch.  A weekend away will not be complete without the perfect weekend bag - so I chose this perfectly sized Country Road make of Nylon - so it will be a durable and strong bag to carry all the goodies.

This is a very easy way in showing how you can pack effectively for anything - if you just plan ahead!
